Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 program
Parramatta Light Rail is one of the State Government’s major public transport projects in Western Sydney, being delivered as part of a record $73 billion infrastructure program across NSW. Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 will connect Westmead to Carlingford via Parramatta CBD and Camellia with a two-way track spanning 12 kilometers.

Athassel Civil was engaged by CPB Downer JV on the Parramatta Light Rail Project
The scope of works involved constructing
- 9 under rail Sydney Water sewer and watermain crossings ranging in size from 300mm to 1200mm
- Construction of approx 6kms of stormwater pipes ranging in size from 375-750mm
- Associated precast pits
- Connections into existing pipework
- CCTV, air test, vacuum testing to Sydney Water standards
The complexities of the job included working around other contractors in a narrow corridor, pedestrian management, working in and around high voltage electricity, high-pressure gas and fibre optic cables.
